Three brothers have been jailed after a man was stabbed to death beside an Ealing pub last year. A fight outside The Old Hat pub led to 39-year-old Mark Barrs, from Fulham, dying from a single stab wound in the chest.
The incident took place on April 6 last year shortly before 8pm, with police and the London Ambulance Service attending the bar in West Ealing. Detectives from the Specialist Crime Command discovered through an investigation that Barrs had been involved in a minor argument inside the pub with Leon Woods, of Cherry Close in Ealing.
Woods reportedly called his two brothers, who then arrived at the pub and reignited the dispute. The four brothers, Barrs and two of his friends then went outside where the stabbing took place less than one minute later.
CCTV footage from the scene showed Woods' brother, Cleveland McEntee, in possession of a knife. The three brothers can be seen calmly walking away from the area following the stabbing.
The brothers were arrested on April 10 2024 and charged the next day. They pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey and were sentenced on Tuesday, March 11.
Cleveland McEntee, of Henchman Street in Hammersmith, pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life imprisonment. The 40-year-old will serve a minimum of 23 years.
Leon Woods, 42, was jailed for seven years having pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The third brother, Tron McEntee, of Jubilee Road in Perivale, pleaded guilty to violent disorder. The 35-year-old was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
Detective Chief Inspector Ollie Stride, from the Specialist Crime Command of the Metropolitan Police, said: "This case once again highlights how carrying a knife can quickly escalate to murder. What started as an innocuous disagreement in a pub led to a man losing his life. It is shocking that a family has been left grieving due to this type of behaviour."
He added: "All three brothers now have to face the consequences of their actions with lengthy prison sentences for their actions that day."
