Tube station ‘attack’ leaves rail staff member with eye injuries

An alleged “attack” at a North London Tube station has left a member of rail staff with an eye injury, with their radio reportedly thrown onto the tracks by a member of the public. Police are now looking for a man who they believe may have information.

The staff member was allegedly shoved by a man at Bounds Green Tube station at around 6.45am on Thursday, February 20 after he confronted the him for trying to get through the barrier without a ticket.

The man is then claimed to have pushed the member of staff which caused him to drop his TfL radio. The member of public then allegedly threw this onto the tracks before returning to make threats of violence to the staff member, who he assaulted and left with eye injuries.

A photograph of a man police believe to have information that could help with their investigation has now been released.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "At around 6.45am on Thursday 20 February at Bounds Green underground station a member of rail staff challenged a man who attempted to get through the barrier without a ticket.

"The man then pushed the member of staff causing him to drop his TfL radio which the man picked up and walked off with before later throwing it onto the tracks.

"He returned to the victim and made threats of violence against him before attacking him causing injuries to his eye."
