Police confirm age of boy charged with murdering Lathaniel Burrell

Met Police detectives investigating the fatal shooting of Lathaniel Burrell in Stockwell have confirmed a second person has been charged with his murder. Lathaniel has been described as being “very bright at school” with classic teenage interests of supporting Manchester United and playing Playstation 5.

On Wednesday morning (March 12) the Met Police confirmed a 17-year-old boy has been charged with murdering Lathaniel. The 16-year-old died at the scene after sustaining gunshot wounds in Paradise Road, on the Stockwell and Clapham border, on March 4.

His family continue to be supported by specialist officers, a Met Police spokesperson said. The 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will appear at Bromley Youth Court today (March 12).

Omar Prempeh, aged 32, has also been charged with murder in relation to the investigation. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court on Monday (March 10) and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday (March 12).
