Pedestrian launched into the air in accident

A pedestrian was launched into the air after being struck by a car in East London on Friday, March 7. CCTV footage from Katherine Road, Foreast Gate, shows the man was hit by the black Volkswagen car moments before it came to a sudden stop.

Police were called to the scene shortly before 4.10pm. The 47-year-old suffered minor injuries in the crash and remains in stable condition.

Despite social media reports claiming the driver fled, the Metropolitan Police confirmed the driver stopped at the scene and is helping police with the investigation. No arrests have been made in connection with the crash.

A Met Police spokesperson said: "Police were alerted at 4.09pm on Friday, March 7 to an incident in Katherine Road, Forest Gate, where a pedestrian appeared to have been hit by a car at 4.09pm that day. A 47-year-old man suffered minor injuries in the incident, which are said to be non life-changing or non life-threatening.

"He remains in a stable condition. The car stopped at the scene and the driver has been helping police with their enquiries, which are ongoing. No arrests have been made.

"If you were a witness, please call police on 101 with reference 5206/7Mar."
