Hunt for man who 'sexually assaulted woman on Elizabeth line and followed her'

Police have launched a manhunt after a sexual assault on board the Elizabeth line. The incident occurred on Wednesday, February 5 just after 7pm.

British Transport Police had said that a man boarded a train at Custom House station and sat down next to a woman. It is alleged that he then sexually assaulted her before following her off of the train at Whitechapel station.

He then followed her through the station and onto a London Overground train. An image has now been released of a man police would like to speak to.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "Officers investigating a sexual assault on board the Elizabeth Line in February have today released these images in connection. Just after 7pm on Wednesday 5 February, a man boarded a train at Custom House railway station and sat next to a woman.

"He proceeded to sexually assault her, before following her off of the train at Whitechapel railway station and following her through the station and onto a London Overground train. Officers believe the man in the images may have information which could help with their investigation.

"Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 191 of 5 February. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
