A car fire was reported at a tunnel at Heathrow Airport this morning, leading to flights being cancelled while hundreds of passengers have struggled to travel to and from the station.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "We were called just before 3am to an electric vehicle fire inside the east ramp. We sent two fire engines to the scene but once the fire was extinguished the car was completely destroyed.
"The fire was under control by 3.45am. London Ambulance were called to the scene but there are no reports of any injuries. We left the scene at 4.30am."

Traveller shares tip for getting to Terminal 3 faster
One traveller posted how she made it to Terminal 3 on time, telling users on X: "We went to T5 and got the express to T3. Very easy and no time delay at all. 7am this morning. Hope this helps others."
But others found their journeys to the airport blighted by traffic problems. One person wrote: "Allow more time. It’s complete chaos on all surrounding roads."

The M4 southbound was closed between junctions 4 and 4a as a result of the car fire, adding to severe road delays for those hoping to fly today.
Heathrow Airport has said: "Due to an earlier vehicle fire, road access to Terminals 2 and 3 is partially restricted. Passengers are advised to leave more time travelling to the airport and use public transport where possible.
"Latest updates can be found on Heathrow.com and our social media channels. We apologise for the disruption caused.”

Disruption to airport coach services
Carousel Buses, which runs services to the airport, has tweeted saying it will be stopping short of it due to the fire.
It uses the tunnel to get there, and as such will be going to Stockley Park Road bus stop instead.
