A boy on a bike has been rushed to hospital “in a critical condition” following a crash with a London bus in Surrey Quays yesterday (Tuesday, March 11). London’s Air Ambulance was also called to the scene of the incident.
The young cyclist was rushed to hospital following the collision after emergency services were called to reports of a crash on Surrey Quays Road at around 5.30pm yesterday.
A London Air Ambulance was also dispatched to the scene. The child’s injuries, which were critical, have now been assessed non life-threatening. His family has been informed of the serious collision.
A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 5.36pm yesterday (March 11) to reports of a road traffic collision. We sent resources including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene.
"We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. We treated a child at the scene and took them to a major trauma centre by road as a priority.”
A Met Police spokesperson said: "At about 5.35pm on Tuesday, March 11, officers on patrol came upon a bus in collision with a cyclist on Surrey Quays Road. Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended.
"The cyclist, who is a child, was taken to hospital in a critical condition. The child's condition has now been confirmed to be non-life threatening. His family has been informed."
