Beautiful secret park right next to Tube station that's like a fairy tale

With spring just around the corner and London blessing us with sun, we are searching for the best parks to enjoy nature in bloom. One hidden gem in North London is perfect for spotting wood anemones, native bluebells, and wood goldilocks.

Queen's Wood, a six-minute walk from Highgate Station, dates back to at least 1600. Now a local nature reserve, it is one of four ancient woodlands in Haringey.

Despite being only 15 minutes from King’s Cross on the Northern Line, it offers a peaceful escape from the city. Since it has fewer crowds, there's still an abundance of fauna and flora.

Visitors can admire rare woodland flowers. The bird life is equally diverse, including three species of woodpecker.

There is also a café that looks straight out of a fairy tale. The Queen's Wood Café serves organic, seasonal dishes made with produce from its own garden.

MyLondon explored this quiet retreat to see what makes it so special. The following photos show everything that makes Queen’s Wood a true hidden gem.

Queen's Wood is located at Queen's Wood Rd, London N6 6UU.
